Admin Area
Hello,
I just upgrade for eggBlog 3 to 4 and have installed it. Your old software had an admin area where you could edit users easily. Can you tell me how to edit the users without this fuction?
Thanks,
Cory

From the "administration" menu on the right (assuming you are logged in as an administrator), select "members":

I need to know if upgrading changed the admin login. I am unable to login with the old login and need help knowing where to change it if needed.

Cory,
Upgrading does not change the ADMIN function. Perhaps the only reason you are unable to log in is because you have forgotten your username and password. Just what exactly are you trying to accomplish?

Cory - there is a "forgotten password" link if you have forgotten your log-in details.
Egg - 2:08pm, 14 December 2007
Yes - I see the forgotten password link. However, it is not recognizing the email. Also, when I upgraded I see that all the tables have changed so none of my old articles are showing up. Is there a quick fix for the admin and the tables?
integrativedesigns - 3:20pm, 14 December 2007
Cory - all data should be imported to the new system assuming you have run the /upgrade_3to4.php script. Sounds like you have not imported any old data ...?

I get the error:
Julie's Blog
Discover Who You Are
There has been an error
Please refresh to try again
Column count doesn't match value count at row 1INSERT INTO eb_articles SELECT a.id,a.flag,m.id,a.date,a.title,a.details,a.comments FROM eggblog_articles AS a LEFT JOIN eggblog_members AS m ON a.author=m.name ORDER BY a.id
Can you explain?

What version of eggBlog are you upgrading from?
I assume you are upgrading to v4.0rc1 ?
Egg - 5:04pm, 17 December 2007
Yes. Upgrading from 3 to 4.

Do you have access to your SQL database? For example, through http://phpmyadmin.net ?
You should have a table called eggblog_articles (from eggblog v3.1.1) and eb_articles (from eggblog v4.0rc1). Both tables should have 7 fields.
The error is stating that the table you are trying to import data from is missing some fields (columns of data).
I would imagine that you are upgrading from an older version thant v3.1.1 ?

Same thing happened to me. I ran the install and then it said to remove it and the upgrade - this is the latest eggblog v4.0rc1 - but there is no tables in my database and there is no administration details given - nothing.
Not sure what is going wrong - I tried twice to install.
Cheers

I have afound a bug where incorrect MysQL log-in details (username, password and database name) will not return an error. This has been fixed in v4.0rc2.
If you are receiving just a blank page and no confirmation message then this is likely due to the above bug (and your incorrect MySQL details).
Please try eggBlog v4.0rc2 available from:
http://eggblog.net/download.php
Thanks

I upgraded from v3 to v4 a few days ago. It seems to have gone well except everytime I try to access the admin page it times out. Is there a setting I need to change that I missed?

A user log in sets a cookie and a session. Should the session time out, the cookie will log you back in, regardless or any session time out.
Do you have any further details?

I logged out and I was redirected to my url (www.siteurl.com/blog/www_siteurl_com) instead of the index. I was logged out though (the redirect is a problem there).
I logged back in and was successful. The "Administration" link appeared. After clicking on it and waiting an error came up in firefox saying "The connection was reset.. The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading."

I played with the code... and after disabling the code that checks for updates / automatic updates, it works fine. It could still be some problem with my hosting company.. but, at least it works now.

No need to upgrade it just download the stable version and install it to your database or login to your web server or ask your web server how to log in to your phpmyadmin i guess it's on your webserver...
