Clarification about TZ

Hi there, I'm new to installing/wanting to use Eggblog on my website. Familiar with development and the like but can't quite wrap my head around why I am only every getting a completely blank screen when trying to access any of the Eggblog pages.

Privileges and config information is all set up correctly and it baffles me. There is only one field that is currently left blank in the config file and that's the TZ (time zone) information.

Is this a necessary parameter to set and if so, please can someone shed some information on just what is expected in that field; I can't find information on it anywhere :/

Thank you in advance for your time

*feels a bit silly* problem resolved in another area but, even so what sort of information is the TZ variable expecting please? :)

The timezones are listed at http://php.net/manual/en/timezones.php although using the administration area of eggblog makes this easier for you.
