v4.1b Released - New Article (WYSIWYG) Editor
posted by Egg @ 5:24pm, Monday 15 September 2008.
I have for some time been meaning to ditch FCKeditor that I currently use in releases of eggBlog.
I'm sure the software serves some form of a purpose to someone ... what and who I do not know! It's over bloated, poorly supported and to be honest, isn't the best written package I've come across.
So at last I have found a replacement in the name of openwysiwyg.

It's more than a 1/3 of the size of FCKeditor and takes the size of a complete eggBlog package from 1.38mb (226k .7z package) down to 0.54mb (93kb .7z package). Under 100kb!
I have uploaded a beta release of this to the eggBlog demo website. Do please log in to the demo site at demo.eggblog.net, try out the new article editor and leave your feedback below or in the forum.
This will not be a public beta as I believe this to be a short-term release due to its apparent stability.
The replacement appears to be working fine and fixes many bugs that FCKeditor created so I'm hoping to get this released asap.

Yeah it's great, but it doesn't work in Safari. Could you please find one with Safari-support, if not, I'll have to use Firefox which isn't the best of browsers.

Safari support has been added, can you check again. Appears to be working for me.
